Plant: | Pine Scotch is so called due to the origin of the Pinus sylvestris, which is Scotland. Although it is now cultivated in similar cold climates, this hardy tree diminished in Scotland due to the needs of early civilizations. The Pine is a robust evergreen tree that can grow to 40 meters in height and withstand temperatures of -40 oC. There are more than 80 species of Pine, most having a flat crown and red- brown textured bark. It has orange- yellow flowers in season, and gray- green leaves that are referred to as needles. |
